After the death of Genghis Khan
and the Kuriltai of 1228 Chagatai received
Turkestan as his yurt. The language of his Ulus
evolved into a language we know as Chagatai or
Turki.
The Chaghatay language is alive
and well across Central Asia. It has never died,
and is often referred to as
"Turkistani", or simply by its earlier
name, Turki. Paksoy,

Chaghatay is primarily based on
Uygur, which later became Karakhanid on the way

In the later part of the 15th
century the Shaybanid Horde moved into
Transoxiana (Turan) and by 1505 the Uzbeks pushed
the Chagatai Turks or Timurids out and took the
land they still inhabit today.
